Beginners, take your first step towards becoming a safe and accomplished rifle marksman by enrolling in this 2-day course!  If the appeal and challenge of recreational target shooting, hunting wild game, or participating in long range rifle competitions interests you, then this course is the best place to start your

shooting sports journey.  Allow APO to warmly welcome you to outdoor rifle sports!

In this course you will learn about rifles, accessories and precision rifle marksmanship fundamentals in the classroom and on the range, building a solid foundation on firearms safety, safe rifle handling, & proper range firing procedures.  You will learn & practice the fundamentals of precision rifle marksmanship at ranges out to 300+ yards.  You will participate in educational classroom presentations, receive personal coaching on the firing line & engage in a safe enjoyable outdoor rifle shooting experience.  There are no physical strength or agility requirements and you don’t need any special equipment.  All we ask is that you bring a positive attitude, an accurate scoped rifle capable of

grouping 1” at 100 yards, 200 rds of quality ammunition, some enthusiasm & a willingness to learn!

This course is designed for the new rifle owner, novice or aspiring rifle marksman (or woman) on the safe use and operation of a scoped bolt action rifle.  Don’t have a scoped

rifle capable of grouping a least 3 shots inside one inch at 100 yards?  Want to attend the course?  No worries at all, APO has you covered.  We cordially extend you the use of an APO SABER-M700 Precision Rifle kitted with a premium Leupold optic for a nominal rental fee!  Youth accompanied by an adult guardian participant are welcome.  Lunches and refreshments are provided.  A Certificate of Training is awarded at the completion of the course.  Courses can also be organized for rimfire and Modern Sporting Rifles.

Location
 

This APO Riflecraft training course is offered at Spears Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia south of Charlottesville. Students arriving by commercial aircraft may choose to fly into either Richmond Virgnia or Charlottesville Virginia – each about 1 ½  to 2 hour drive from Spears Mountain.  Dulles International and Reagan National Airports in Washington D.C. are about a 3 ½ hour drive.  Students may also choose to arrive in Lynchburg Virginia, a closer regional airport which is about an hour's distance from Spears Mountain.  Guests arriving by private aircraft will find excellent facilities at any of these airports. Visit our Travel & Accommodations page for complete information, including recommendations on hotels and other lodging options.

Class Size

Ashbury’s goal is to ensure that you have a positive hands-on RifleSports experience, so we keep our class sizes small. The Bolt Action Rifle Fundamentals course can accommodate up to 12 students. Riflecraft instruction is also offered in personalized settings for individuals, partners, parent-youth and small groups of friends or associates.

 
Included with Your Tuition

The Basic Tuition Package includes the course fee, handouts, course equipment listed below, lunch and refreshments.  Our Inclusive Tuition Package is designed for those who may not yet own a precison rifle or want the opportunity to shoot a premium quality APO precision rifle.  60 rounds of ammunition and any necessary support equipment is also provided. All that's needed is you!

Required Student Equipment

Here is a list of equipment you’ll need to fully participate in the Riflecraft 150 course. If you don’t have all of the equipment needed please let our training department know. Ashbury has complete precision rifle equipment kits and loaner gear for rent. You may want to consider registering for an Inclusive Tuition Package which includes all the gear you'll need for training. We also extend students discounted pricing on all firearms and shooting sports equipment.
